The 2000 Kyoto Prize laureate in Advanced Technology, Professor Sir. Antony Hoare, passed away on March 5, 2026, at the age of 92.
He received the Kyoto Prize for his significant contributions to the development of software science, particularly through his axiomatic approach for better computer performance and greater software reliability.
The concept of structured programming and the theory of parallel processing, to which he made pioneering contributions, are closely linked to the core of computer software and have provided the technical foundation essential to the creation of a secure information society. Today, the progress of software science and technology has been greatly supported by his achievements.
We would like to send our sincere condolences.
