Dr. Graham Farquhar Awarded the Royal Medal!

Dr. Graham Farquhar, the 2017 Kyoto Prize laureate in Basic Sciences, and Dr. Susanne von Caemmerer were selected as recipients of the Royal Medal in the field of biological sciences. Many congratulations on this prestigious recognition!

According to the Royal Society, they received the prize for “refining the ways we monitor and model photosynthesis in leaves from molecular to global scales.” (The announcement by Royal Society)

The Royal Medals are awards within the British Commonwealth founded by King George IV in 1825. Each year two medals are awarded for the most important contributions to the advancement of “Natural Knowledge” in the physical and biological sciences respectively. A third medal is awarded for distinguished contributions in the applied sciences.
