
Dr. Azim Surani , the 2025 Kyoto Prize laureate in Basic Sciences and Dr. Davor Solter were selected as recipients of the Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize 2026. Many congratulations on this prestigious recognition!
According to the Paul Ehrlich Foundation, they received the prize as follows: “The prizewinners discovered the phenomenon of genomic imprinting. In mammals, this means that the genetic materials of eggs and sperms are functionally different. […] This discovery shook the foundation of classical genetics and opened the door to the vast field of modern epigenetics.” (The announcement by the Paul Ehrlich Foundation )
The Paul Ehrlich and Ludwig Darmstaedter Prize, awarded since 1952, honors scientists who have made outstanding contributions in the field of research represented by Paul Ehrlich, particularly in immunology, cancer research, hematology, microbiology and chemotherapy.
