Message from Chancellor Marye Anne FoxImage: Chancellor Marye Anne Fox
University of California, San Diego is truly honored to participate in the Kyoto Prize Symposium in San Diego, along with our partners at San Diego State University and the University of San Diego. We are grateful to Dr. Inamori and the Inamori Foundation for forging such productive ties to the San Diego community. The Kyoto Prizes recognize significant contributions to the development of humankind made by people who believe, as Dr. Inamori does, that excellence goes hand-in-hand with responsibility.

This is a lesson that all our universities emphasize in
and out of the classroom. And it is exemplified in the inspirational stories of this year's Kyoto Laureates.
